Your Escape to Tranquillity

About Johnson Lodge & Spa, Manali

Johnson Lodge traces its roots back to the early 1900s, when it began as a family mountain bungalow built by Col. C.R. Johnson. Over time, it evolved into a boutique lodge set amid lush lawns and gardens, its local stone walls, timber interiors, and colonial-era charm preserving a sense of old-world warmth while embracing modern comforts for today’s travellers. Today, it stands as a cherished landmark in Manali, where heritage and hospitality come together seamlessly. In the early 2000s, Mehul and Pia Johnson brought this legacy to life in its current form, marking their first venture together in hospitality. Even before the property was fully complete, Johnson’s Bar and Restaurant opened its doors around Diwali 2004, setting the tone for the journey ahead. Officially inaugurated in August 2005, the lodge soon became a preferred retreat for travellers seeking comfort, charm, and a personalised experience. With a hands-on, family-style approach, the couple have thoughtfully expanded the estate into a full-fledged brand, including the lodge, spa, and popular café-bar, while ensuring its heritage character remains intact.

At Spa Magnolia, soothing instrumental music and tranquil decor create a haven for relaxation and rejuvenation, offering a welcome escape from the pace of everyday life. Meanwhile, Johnson Bar & Restaurant and the cafe invite you on a culinary journey, from refined Italian and Indian flavours to vibrant Southeast Asian and Mexican dishes, paired with expertly crafted cocktails in a warm, inviting setting. More than just a stay, it is a sensory experience where history, comfort, and heartfelt hospitality come together to leave you refreshed, delighted, and inspired.
